In April 2022 GloRilla released “F.N.F (Let’s Go)". Since it’s release she’s signed with Memphis, Tennessee legend Yo Gotti's Collective Music Group label, collaborated with Cardi B, received a Grammy nomination for 'Best Rap Performance' and performed on the platform's esteemed stage as part of the Hip Hop 50 tribute show. Here’s how she propelled herself to stardom.
In a conversation with legendary broadcaster Angie Martinez the artist, born Gloria Hallelujah Woods, revealed how she undertook a detox from March 1st to May 1st 2022. For her 60-day cleanse GloRilla decided to practise laser-like focus. “No dudes, no partying, saving dollars and exercising,” she told Martinez. “In April I made F.N.F (Let’s Go), towards the end of the 60 days," she revealed. Her dedication to her craft - and two months of no distractions - led to her recording what would be her breakthrough.
With a potential hit on her hands, the 23-year-old rapper took to Triller to promote the song, releasing a since deleted video of the songs initial version. On the advice of producer HitKidd she re-recorded a less explicit version of the track and shot a music video. This version blew up on TikTok, sparking a viral dance challenge... no doubt assisted by the catchy instrumental and caption-ready lyricism that further fuelled the track's lifespan on social platfroms.
Since the success of "F.N.F (Let’s Go)," GloRilla constantly dropped new music, releasing her Anyways, Life's Great... at the tail end of 2022, which housed her collaboration with Cardi B "Tomorrow ". In addition to regularly serving up new music, GloRilla's consistency extends to her active engagement with fans through social media, frequent press runs and live performances. With her run seemingly just starting, we can't wait to see what the next chapter in her playbook looks like.
